First Day (Sunday) School
Louisville Friend’s First Day (Sunday) School Program
During silent worship our younger humans- with shorter attention spans- are invited to participate in First Day School, our version of Sunday school. Our children’s programs are committed to nurturing children through Quaker teachings, fostering a welcoming space where young minds grow with values of peace, community, and reflection.

Our First Day School Program
Discover how young learners engage with Quaker principles through fun activities and caring guidance every Sunday.
1
Welcome and Introduction
Children general arrive and join the adults in several minutes of waiting worship. After a few minutes our teacher will invite children wishing to participate in our first day program to quietly leave our meeting room and come to our children’s area.
2
Learning Through Stories and Sharing
Through stories, group discussions, and play kids explore Quaker traditions and reflect on kindness, peace, and community. Children often make art work that represents their understandings of the day’s topic.
3
Reflection and Rejoining Adults
The session concludes with quiet reflection and sharing, fostering a sense of connection and understanding among children. The children then rejoin the larger meeting and participate in the last few minutes of waiting worship, prayers, and introductions.
